Regulatory Affairs
The reorganisation of the Department of Health has taken effect on 1 October 2019 to better address the society’s public health challenges.
Upon the reorganisation, the Regulatory Affairs function, headed by the Controller, Regulatory Affairs has been redefined. The Controller, Regulatory Affairs is responsible for overseeing the operation of related services and steering the enforcement of public health legislation and formulation of regulatory strategies capable of responding to new challenges arising from the evolving landscape of medical and health services.
The eight services under Regulatory Affairs include the following:
- Boards and Councils Office
- Chinese Medicine Regulatory Office
- Drug Office
- Health Sciences and Technology Office

- Preparatory Office for the Hong Kong Centre for Medical Products Regulation (established in June 2024)
