Drug Office
The Drug Office is the law enforcement agency over the legislations concerning medicines. It also provides for the procurement and dispensing of medicines at the clinics of the Department. Headed by Assistant Director (Drug), the Drug Office comprises 6 divisions:

Risk Management and Operations
Responsible for the market surveillance, carry out investigation and institution of prosecutions against offenders under drug-related Ordinances; and enforcement of the Undesirable Medical Advertisements Ordinance (UMAO). -
Licensing and Compliance
Enforcing the Pharmacy and Poisons Ordinance, the Antibiotics Ordinance and the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance through licensing and inspection of manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers; and sampling of pharmaceutical products for analysis. -
Drug Evaluation and Pharmacovigilance
Evaluating applications of the registration of pharmaceutical products on the basis of their safety, efficacy and quality; assessing application of conducting clinical trial / medicinal test in relation to pharmaceutical products; and carry out the risk assessment as regards to ADR (Adverse Drug Reaction) reports. -
Drug Procurement and Clinic Service
Responsible for drug procurement and provision of dispensing services to the clinics of Department of Health; providing logistic support in stock-piling of selected drugs including vaccines and anti-viral drugs for public health emergency purposes. -
Drug Information and Import/Export Control
Dissemination of drug information to healthcare providers and provide educational materials related to medicines to the public; and processing the import/export licensing of pharmaceutical products. -
Administration
Providing administrative support including personnel, finance, office equipment, facilities and accommodation to the Drug Office.
