CARBON AUDIT RESULTS (2020/21)
Department of Health (DH) works continuously with Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) to explore practical and effective energy saving and greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction measures. Energy and / or carbon audits have been conducted in collaboration with EMSD for DH buildings / premises with high electricity consumption from 2015/16 to 2019/20.
In 2020/21, DH conducted carbon audit for 34 DH buildings / premises. The total GHG emissions from these buildings / premises are 26,192 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent.
To save energy and reduce GHG emissions, the DH has implemented different energy saving and carbon reduction initiatives. For example,
- Using photocopier with double-side copying feature.
- Procuring environmental-friendly products, such as recycled papers, energy efficient computer equipment, electrical appliances and office equipment.
- De-lamping lights to the minimum required for illumination and switching off lights and non-essential electrical appliances while not in use.
- Liaising with EMSD to identify practical and effective energy saving and carbon reduction measures.
