CARBON AUDIT RESULTS (2018/19)

Department of Health (DH) works continuously with Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) to explore practical and effective energy saving and greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction measures. Energy and / or carbon audits have been completed in collaboration with EMSD for 26 DH buildings / premises from 2015/16 to 2017/18.

In 2018/19, DH conducted carbon audit for 30 DH buildings / premises. The total GHG emissions from these buildings / premises are 33,477 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent.

To save energy and reduce GHG emissions, the DH has implemented different energy saving and carbon reduction initiatives. For example,

• Using photocopier with double-side copying feature.
• Procuring environmental-friendly products, such as recycled papers, energy efficient computer equipment, electrical appliances and office equipment.
• De-lamping lights to the minimum required for illumination and switching off lights and non-essential electrical appliances while not in use.
• Liaising with EMSD to identify practical and effective energy saving and carbon reduction measures.
